Chapter 66 - Freya's POV
23:29, 5 September 2025Sunday, 11:08 AM — Noticing the Change
The morning sunlight spilled through the windows of the cast house, painting warm patches on the hardwood floor. Everyone was slowly waking up, stretching, sipping coffee, and scrolling through their phones. But something felt different today.
I was sitting on the couch beside Malachi, scrolling through messages when I noticed Meg and Milo in the kitchen. Usually, they were careful—sometimes almost too careful—with their distance. But this morning, they were close. Close enough to brush shoulders, to laugh softly without glancing around, to share a look that wasn't just friendly.
I nudged Malachi, who was watching them with a faint smile. "Do you see that?"
He nodded slowly. "Yeah. They're... different."
I bit my lip, trying to put my finger on it. It wasn't loud or obvious. There were no dramatic declarations, no holding hands across tables, no whispered confessions in crowded rooms. But their ease. Their comfort. It spoke volumes.
Milo reached out and gently tucked a stray lock of Meg's hair behind her ear. She smiled like she wasn't pretending anymore—like maybe she didn't care who was watching.
And for the first time in years, the secret didn't feel so secret.
Malachi leaned back, eyes warm. "They're done hiding."
I grinned. "It's about time."
We watched as Meg and Milo continued to move around each other with that quiet, natural rhythm that only people who truly know each other have.
And I realized something—
This wasn't just about them anymore. It was about all of us, finally stepping out into the light.
