Part Four
14:12, 6 July 2014Sophia’s POV
“Right we’re on the top floor,” Liam said and we all nodded, my phone beeped and I pulled it out to see I had an incoming call from my sister. We never got on; she was always stuck up and thought she was better than everyone. I hung up and slid my phone back in my pocket, everyone was looking at me.
“My sister,” I muttered.
“I didn’t know you had a sister,” Beth frowned.
“So, are we going to the rooms?” I asked quickly.
“Sure,” Niall frowned.
“Well let’s go then,” I said when no one moved and carried on staring at me. I walked over to the elevator and pressed the button, waiting impatiently for it to arrive. When it came I jumped in and everyone else followed silently, Liam clicked the floor button and the elevator started going up. I pulled out my phone as it started ringing again, and again it was my sister, so I hung up and put it back in my pocket and looked up to see everyone watching me again. “What?” I snapped, and walked out of the elevators now open doors.
I had the key so when I found the girls room I opened the door- propping it open so the other girls could get in- and walked straight into the bathroom and answered my phone, which was ringing again.
“What the hell do you want Courtney?” I snapped when I answered the phone to my sister.
“Soph, sis, how are you?” Courtney said sweetly, and in a very high-pitched voice.
“What the hell? You leave for weeks on end, not bothering to contact mum once, she was worried sick. Not to mention you being a back-stabbing slag! You slept with my boyfriend, for weeks!” I shouted angrily pacing the bathroom as the horrible memories came flooding back.
*Flashback*
I smiled, today was my birthday and Josh (my boyfriend) said he had a surprise for me. I couldn’t wait; he said he’d give it to me tonight. I was meant to be at a family party now at the village hall (Josh said he couldn’t make it), but I left my phone at home, so I told mum I’d just be a minute and left. I came up to my house and unlocked the door, I heard a groan and I frowned. I walked to where I heard the groan come from and found it was my sisters room. I cringed at the thought of what was going on in there and was about to turn away when I heard another noise.
“Josh,” My sister moaned.
I frowned and my hand clenched the door handle. I opened the door and saw Josh and Courtney both in their underwear on her bed.
“How could you?!” I screamed.
“Soph,” Josh gasped.
“Don’t ‘Soph’ me,” I growled.
“I’m sorry, it’s… it’s not what it looks like,” He begged and tried to touch me but I moved out the way.
“Don’t touch me, and I know exactly what it is,” I choked, through the tears that were building up.
“Yeh, don’t lie Josh-y, my wittle sister isn’t dumb, she’s just… not me,” Courtney smirked and pulled Josh back over to the bed.
“Now Soph, we’d like some privacy to finish what we started,” Courtney giggled and winked at me. And I did the only thing I could think of, which was to run.
*End of Flashback*
She was the reason I left Ireland.
“Oh Soph, we were both so young and naïve. Can’t we just forget about it?” She said.
“It was last year! You’re the reason I left Ireland in the first place!” I shouted.
“Fine, if it means that much, I’m sorry, Soph. Anyway, is it true about you being with One Direction?” She asked.
“Oh, so that’s why you rang up. We finally get the truth. You weren’t ever going to really apologise were you? You aren’t sorry at all! You just want to know if I’m with One Direction… you b*tch Courtney. You total b*tch,” I sighed, tears welling up in my eyes. I was over Josh now; I was over him a long time ago. But I could never forgive Courtney for what she did and it was horrible to think of the things she did to me, not just then but the other times, that was just the tipping point.
“Now, now that’s no way to talk to your sister, and that didn’t answer my question either,” She snapped.
“Just leave me alone Courtney,” I hissed and hung up before I slumped on the floor and began to cry.
“Sophia?” I heard people shout whilst trying to open the door.
“No,” I said and I heard loads of laughing.
“We know you’re in there now,” Beth laughed.
“Yeah well, you can leave me alone now,” I muttered.
“We heard your conversation Soph,” Lauren said.
I unlocked the door quickly. “Don’t tell anyone,” I gushed.
“We won’t, why didn’t you tell us about your sister?” Molly asked and hugged me.
“Because I don’t want to think about her, and I hate her for what she did,” I sighed. “Anyway what are we doing now?”
“Erm, not sure, I’ll go ask the boys,” Lauren walked off.
“They said they are going to the pool downstairs, I said we’d come but we’d be in a bit because we need to buy bikini’s,” Lauren said coming back in.
“I’m not going,” I muttered and walked over to one of the beds and sat on it.
“You know you want to see Niall,” Beth smirked and I blushed.
“Fine I’ll come, but I’m not going in the water” I laughed.
“Yay, now we’ll be back in about half an hour,” Molly said and they all nodded.
“Okay, I’m going to go for a walk,” I said and left the room, we all had our own keys now. I walked out of the hotel and around the streets for a while and I found a small deserted park. I walked over and sat on one of the swings using my feet to gently rock it backwards and forwards.
It all seems so surreal, last week I was a normal girl, now I’m friends with One Direction, the radio is telling everyone I’m a prostitute, and thousands of girls around the world hate me. Now I think I really am falling for Niall, but how long will it last? I don’t want to get hurt again. And I surely would, if I ever was to date a popstar, I mean, he’d be doing tours all the time and thousands of pretty girls would be throwing themselves at him, how could he so no to them? I mean, I’m only me, nothing out of the ordinary.
My phone started ringing and I answered it because it was my mum.
“Hey mum,” I said.
“Why the hell is the radio saying you’re a prostitute and that you’re running around London with those One Direction boys?” She shouted and I had to pull the phone from my ear.
“I’m not a prostitute ma, I promise,” I sighed.
“Okay, so is it true you’re hanging around with One Direction? Because if you are, your sister is a really big fan and would love you to-“ I cut her off.
“No ma, I will not do anything for her,” I said and hung up. I sat in silence just thinking about things for ages. I don’t know how long exactly, but it started to get hungry so I decided to head back. I slowly walked back to the hotel and the sky gradually grew darker.
“There you are!” Beth ran over to me as soon as I stepped into the hotel.
“Here I am?” I frowned.
“You’ve been gone for hours!” She said.
“Oh, sorry,” I smiled.
“It’s okay, now come on, Niall’s been worried!” She winked at me and I laughed.
“Sophia!” Niall ran over and hugged me when I walked into the pool area with Beth.
“Ew, Niall your wet!” I laughed.
“Oh, sorry,” He muttered and stepped back.
“It’s okay,” I laughed.
“So where were you?” He asked.
“Went for a walk,” I shrugged and sat down on a sun bed.
“For three hours,” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,” I smiled and laughed a little. The rest of the night I talked to Niall about random things, ranging from Ireland to my favourite colour.
“Night guys,” I said before heading up to my room to go to bed.
What an eventful day.
*~*~*~*
I woke up the next morning and got dressed into a summer dress I had bought the other day, it was light yellow and came down to my knee with a thin black belt across my middle. I brushed my brown hair and left it loose down my back, I added a yellow head band to complete the outfit as well as my black converse. I cleaned my teeth and walked out of the bathroom. As I was walking out the bathroom my mobile phone rang; so I walked over and smiled at the caller ID before answering.
“Mel!” I screamed.
“Sophia!” Mel screamed down the phone.
“Mel, what’s up?” I asked my cousin, we were really close.
“THE SKY!” She shouted and I laughed, “Anyway, is it okay if I come down to your house in London? My parents are fighting and it’s really getting on my nerves, also what’s going on with all the hate on your Twitter page?” She asked.
“Mel you can come, but I’m not staying at my house anymore, I’m at the Strand Palace Hotel, and yeah, just ignore the hate, it’s because I’m hanging round with One Direction with the other girls, anyway, you can come to the hotel if you want,” I offered.
“Oh cheers, I’ll be down later,” She said.
“Bye,” I shouted.
“Bye!” She shouted back and laughed before hanging up. Mel was a year older than me, she had a drivers licence so she’s probably driving down, she doesn’t live in Ireland, she lives in London too. We’re really close, she used to come up to Ireland a lot to visit me, and she doesn’t like Courtney either. Bonus.
“Who were you shouting at?” Niall asked me, walking in my room; he was only in his sweat pants.
“My cousins coming down,” I smiled; I couldn’t help but look at his chest, and I heard Niall laugh, I looked up at his face and then blushed, he’d seen me staring. Awkward.
“Does she know we’re here?” He asked.
“Yes, but she’s not really a fan, no offence,” I blushed a deeper shade of red, realising that could have come across harshly.
“It’s fine,” He laughed.
“Well, you’re going to get ready and then we can go get breakfast and Mel can join us,” I said.
“You just got off the phone to her,” He frowned.
“She drives like a maniac, she’ll be here in time,” I laughed, “Now you, go change.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” He saluted me, “You look beautiful today by the way.”
That simple statement made me blush a deep shade of red and I had to look down. “Thanks,” I mumbled.
When Niall and everyone was ready we headed down to breakfast. When we were walking back from breakfast we heard loads of fangirl screams… they’d found us; but luckily the hotel security seemed to be on it and were holding them back. “Oh crap,” I muttered.
“Well there goes our fan free day,” Niall muttered standing next to me, we were holding hands. Actually come to think of it, so were Beth and Louis… they actually looked really cute together. I looked at the desk and noticed Mel was standing there.
“One second guys,” I said and they all gave me confused looks.
“Mel!” I shouted and ran to her, giving her a massive hug.
“Hey Soph,” She said as she hugged me back.
“So you got you’re things?” I asked as we pulled away (I had to shout because of the fans).
“Yeah,” She smiled.
“Good, let’s go, my ears hurt!” I laughed.
“Ditto,” She agreed and we headed to the guys who were waiting by the elevator.
“Guys this is Mel, my cousin, Mel this is Beth, Lauren and Molly- my flatmates or housemates, whatever. And this is Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry and Niall,” I introduced everyone, blushing a little when I said Niall. What is this boy doing to me?
“So what should we do today guys?” I asked as we quickly jumped in the elevator and everyone had said there hello’s to Mel.
“How about a quickfire battle?” Louis asked.
“Sure,” Everyone nodded; except me and Mel who both looked confused.
“What’s that?” I asked.
“It’s basically, when two contestants go head to head and ask each other questions and the other person has to answer as quick as possible, and you’re not allowed to hesitate and stuff,” Niall said.
“Oh, cool, I’m up for it,” How bad could it be?
Suddenly the elevators lights flickered and everyone looked up at them, there was a loud groaning noise from the elevator and it lurched to a stop, but the doors didn’t open and the lights snapped off, and we were in sudden darkness. I took hold of Niall’s hand and he wrapped his arms protectively around me and I felt instantly relaxed, and leant into him.
“You okay?” He whispered.
“Yeah, you?” I whispered back, my voice shaking a bit.
“Yeah,” He said.
“Erm… has the elevator broken down?” Harry asked.
“I think so,” Louis said whilst Liam started pressing random buttons.
“Liam, mate, I don’t think that’s going to work,” Zayn said from somewhere in the darkness, I only knew Liam was pressing buttons because I could hear them and they were also our only light source.
“Does anyone have their phone?” Beth asked, I think she was somewhere near Louis, by the sound of her voice.
“I do,” I said and pulled my iPhone out my pocket, I turned it on and I could see everyone, using the iPhone as a light; I could see Beth was in Louis’ arms and the others were standing around staring at me.
“Do you have signal?” Mel asked.
“Yes,” I smiled, “So who are we going to call?”
“Erm… we could call Simon and get him to call the hotel,” Liam suggested.
“Yeah, that’s a good idea, I’ll call him,” Louis took my phone and dialled the number, putting it on speaker phone.
“Hello?” Simon Cowell’s voice said from the phone. Wow, we called Simon Cowell on my phone!
“Hey Simon, it’s Louis,” Louis said.
“Louis, what can I do for you? How’s your holiday? And what’s all this press about you with a prostitute?” He asked.
“I am not a prostitute!” I said angrily.
“Who’s there with you?” Simon asked.
“Just some of our friends, and our holiday was going fine, until we got stuck in this elevator,” Louis said.
“You’re stuck in an elevator?” Simon asked.
“Yes, and we need help getting out,” Liam piped up.
“I’m too young to die!” Harry shouted.
“Okay, what’s the hotel name?” He asked.
“Strand Palace Hotel,” Zayn said.
“Okay, hang on boys,” Simon said.
“And girls!” I piped up and everyone looked at me and I blushed.
“And girls,” Simon laughed.
I MADE SIMON COWELL LAUGH! Achievement of my life.
“Why are you dancing?” Niall laughed.
“Duh, I just made Simon Cowell laugh,” I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Everyone just cracked up laughing.
“Okay, I’ll go and call the hotel now, bye boys… and girls,” He added at the end.
“Bye!” We all shouted and he hung up.
“Well that was interesting,” I smiled and everyone looked and then started laughing, “What?” I shouted, frowning, that just made them laugh harder. In fact the boys were laughing so much they were on the floor.
“Guys, you can stop laughing now,” I muttered, and sat on the floor angrily crossing my arms and pouting. Which made them laugh even more.
“Aw, I’m sorry,” Niall laughed and sat next to me, putting his arm around my waist and hugging me. I just looked at him pouting. I heard a snap in front of us, and looked to see Louis had taken our photo using my phone.
“Twitter,” He sang and started tapping my phone quickly.
“If you’re done, I’d like to have my phone back,” I held out my hand.
“Hang on,” He muttered, frowning.
“What are you looking at?” I stood up and looked over his shoulder, he was looking at my Twitter page- full of abuse.
“Did you know about this?” He asked.
“Yes, but it’s fine, I just ignore it,” I smiled reassuringly, even though some of the stuff people put was hurtful; even my sister joined in the abuse.
“You shouldn’t have to ignore them, they shouldn’t even say things like that in the first place,” Louis said angrily.
“What are you talking about?” Niall looked at my phone along with everyone else, I watched as their faces screwed up in disgust.
“Why the hell would they say those things?” Beth said angrily.
“Guys, it’s fine really,” I smiled. Just then my phone started ringing.
“It’s Simon,” Louis muttered and answered, “Simon?”
“Hey Louis, sorry about this guys, and girls, but they said you’re going to have to wait about an hour for them to fix it, maybe less, if you’re lucky,” Simon sighed.
“Good job my middle name is Lucky then isn’t it,” I smiled and everyone laugh including Simon, “Guys, I’m being Sirius.”
“Sirius?” Molly frowned.
“Sirius Black,” I said in a ‘duh’ sort of tone.
“Why not serious?” Lauren asked.
“Because Sirius Black is amazing! Anyway, back to the point, my middle name is actually Lucky,” I said seriously.
“Okay, so we find out, she’s not a fangirl of One Direction, but she’s a fangirl of Harry Potter,” Liam muttered.
“Harry Potter is amazing!” I growled at Liam.
“But so are we!” He defended.
“Not as amazing as Harry Potter, that is impossible,” I glared at them and they didn’t disagree.
“Twilight!” Molly piped up.
“Don’t go there!” I growled, but this time I wasn’t the only one, everyone in the lift did as well; Molly just looked down.
“Excuse me!” Simon shouted.
“Sorry Simon,” Louis laughed.
“As I was saying, get comfy, you’ve got a wait ahead of you, sorry boys, I’ve got to go,” He said and we all shouted ‘bye’ before he hung up.
“Getting comfy,” I sang as I pushed Niall so he was sat down and then I sat in between his legs leaning against his chest, and taking my phone from Louis; whilst everyone laughed at me, but got comfy themselves.
“Has it been an hour yet?” I asked.
“It’s been one minute Sophia,” Liam said, I put the iPhone in the middle, using it as a light so I could see everyone, and we all sat around it, leaning against the elevators walls, except me who was leaning against Niall.
“You comfy there?” Niall chuckled quietly.
“Very,” I smiled up at him and he laughed.
“So are you okay with the tweets? I’m really sorry about that,” He muttered as everyone started up their own conversations.
“Yes, and you have nothing to be sorry about, it’s not your fault,” I smiled and rested my head on his chest, turning on my side slightly.
“But,” I cut him off.
“Don’t argue with me,” I whispered and he smiled at me.
“Has it been an hour yet?” I asked.
“It’s been two minutes since you last asked!” Louis shouted at me.
“How about now?” I asked.
“Ten seconds,” Harry said.
“What to go?!” I asked, getting excited.
“No, since you last asked!” Zayn shouted and threw something at me.
“What the hell was that!” I screamed as whatever it was had hit me in my face. I picked it up then quickly threw it back to Zayn, “Ew! It’s your sock!” Everyone cracked up laughing whilst I wiped my hand on Niall’s trouser leg, which was to the left of me.
“So, when do you reckon those two will get together?” I asked, looking at Beth and Louis who were sitting in the corner opposite in their own little worlds, Beth was sat on Louis’ lap, facing him and they were laughing together, and basically they looked really cute- and it was obvious Beth liked Louis.
“They’re going to get together?” Niall frowned.
“Obviously, silly, look at them, and it’s obvious they like each other!” I laughed quietly.
“If you’re so good at spotting up-coming relationships; what about the rest of us?” He asked.
“Erm, well,” I turned around and looked at everyone properly, “Oh, Liam and Molly, look at them!” They were sat next to each other, real close, Molly was blushing as Liam pushed a bit of hair out her face, they looked so cute!
“I heard Liam say he likes her,” Niall muttered.
“Looks like Harry made his move quickly,” I laughed quietly. Harry and Lauren were actually kissing, wow, he moves fast, mind you so does Lauren- they are both super confident, perfect match for each other, if you ask me.
“Oh yeah,” Niall laughed, whilst I picked up my phone and snapped a picture of the happy couple and Niall uploaded it to Twitter on the official One Direction Twitter page.
“Zayn and Mel seem to be getting on,” Niall pointed out.
“Oh yeah,” I smiled at my cousin, who was laughing and talking with Zayn.
“We’ll be one big happy family soon!” I grinned.
“So, what about me?” He asked after a pause.
“Huh?” I looked up at him confused.
“Well, each of the lads has a girl here, what about me? And you, you have no one yet,” He pointed out.
“Oh… erm,” I muttered, blushing, what was I supposed to say now… As if on cue my phone started ringing in my hands, I looked at the caller ID and groaned.
“I thought I told you to leave me alone,” I said answering the phone.
“I’m good thanks, how are you? In fact I don’t care so don’t tell me, just thought I’d let you know I’m coming down with the girls,” Courtney answered sweetly.
“No you are not!” I growled, glaring at the floor, and I noticed everyone was quiet and watching me.
'Who is it?' Mel mouthed to me.
'Courtney,' I mouthed back and she glared at the phone before holding her hand out, I passed over the phone.
“Soph made it pretty clear last year that she didn’t want you in her life, and I know I don’t want you in mine, you gave up the right to call Sophia your sister after what you did, now leave us alone and do not call again,” Mel said clearly before hanging up and handing me the phone.
“Thanks Mel,” I smiled at her, she always knew what to do in these situations.
“It’s fine,” She smiled, “What did she want anyway?”
“She said she’s coming down,” I glared at the floor again.
“Wait, are we talking about your sister? Why didn’t you tell us you had a sister?” Liam asked.
“I’d rather not speak about this anymore,” I muttered, “Has it been an hour yet?”
“Half an hour to go,” Zayn sighed.
Suddenly the lights came on and the lift started moving again.
“Thank you!” I shouted and jumped up.
“Finally,” Everyone else smiled and began to get up. I held out my hand to Niall and helped him up.
