Hendrick
04:17, 23 May 2021(Play Song)
Month after month has passed and all I've been doing is working and trying to find Leo's brother, Joshua. My appearance has changed drastically, my face has become drained, almost as if I were a character in a Tim Burton movie. My usual thinner frame has become thicker with more muscle that now lines my bones. After traveling nonstop, constant working out when stressed, and combat practice I've had no time to really rest.
After I come out of the gym I look both ways, staring longer than I should. Hoping to find a glimpse of shaggy blonde hair that belongs to Joshua.
Once I reach my car I let out a heavy sigh. My phone rings causing me to ruffle in my bag to find it. Once I do I answer it, I put it between my shoulder and face as I start the car.
"Hello luv!" Leo's unusually happy voice booms through my phone.
"Well somebody's full of energy, what happened to my brooding Hendrick?" I ask with a small chuckle. An over dramatic sigh fills my ears causing me to internally roll my eyes.
"I'm tired of being the brooding one in our relationship, that's your job." He speaks causing me to laugh.
"I'm guessing all your wounds finally healed fully." I state as I turn left on a busy street.
"Yes they have, and I've been wanting to hang out with my dearest friend." He speaks.
"Aren't you still in London, searching for traces of your brother?" I ask before turning into Dereks apartment buildings parking lot.
"I haven't been able to find anything, unless you count me finding his mafia mates." He says with an annoyed tone. I get out of the car and lock it before starting my way to his building.
"They haven't snitched?" I ask.
"They're loyal gits." He seethes. I frown slightly and walk into the elevator.
"We'll find him. Between my girl and your resources it's only a matter of time." I say before digging for my pack of cigarettes in my bag.
"And if it's too late?" He asks and I sigh leaning on the cool walls.
"It won't be." I finalize as the doors open and I walk through them.
"So when are you coming back?" I ask as I reach for the correct key to Dereks apartment. I open the door waiting for an answer.
"How bout now." A voice booms infront of me. I smile and hang up the phone.
"Hendrick!" I yell happily as I hug him right before I push him away from me.
"How'd you get in?" I ask with a raised eyebrow.
"As long as I'm here right?" He says with a sly smirk. I roll my eyes and pull him back into a tight hug.
"As long as nothings broken." I warn into his shoulder.
"Then don't look in the bedroom." He says in between chuckles.
"Figures." I sigh. He looks down at my hand with an unreadable expression.
"You started up smoking again?" He asks, pointing to the cigarette in my hand.
"Yeah, about a month ago." I say kinda disappointed in myself.
"Weren't you 7 years clean?" He mentions. I nod my head sadly.
"Yeah, Morgan doesn't know." I tell him. He nods before a smirk plays on his lips.
"I finally have my smoking buddy back." He adds. I laugh as he grabs my arm and ushers me to the balcony. We sit down and look out at the sunset. I lite my cigarette and Leo grabs his. He flicks it at me, motioning for me to ignite it. Once I do we lean onto the cool metal that lines the balcony and place the cig in our mouths, taking a long needed drag.
"So good old Morgan doesn't know?" Leo asks as he places his arm around my shoulders. I lean into him and look at the pink, purple, and orange sky.
"Nope, he's already worried about me. This whole thing has really put a toll on him." I sigh, exhaling the smoke.
"Understandably, I'm worried too." He admits.
"Not you too." I sigh.
"Yes, me too. Joshua is a threat, who knows what he'll do next." He explains.
"I know that, but everyone's been treating me different." I vocalize.
"How so?"
"My boss puts me on the safe tasks like going to stations, talking with the cops, and doesn't put me in the field. Garcia always needs to be on the phone with me once I'm out of her sight. Rossi is constantly lecturing me on safety like I'm a child. Reid was angry with me, but once he got over it he's been non stop explaining statistics, geographic's, and everything on stalkers and mobsters. JJ has been acting extremely affectionate. And Prentiss has been taking our usual lunch dates and making them breakfast, lunch, and sometimes even dinner." I explain slightly annoyed.
"I know they're only trying to look out for me, but it's a little too much." I say closing my eyes.
"And Morgan?" Leo asks.
"Morgan's been...distant. But not in the way you'd think. We are extremely close but sometimes it's as if his mind is somewhere else. And when I ask him he tries to lie but I know what he's thinking about. It's what we all are." I explain.
"Am I acting differently towards you?" He asks causing me to think for a moment.
"No, no you haven't." I say.
"Good." He says before taking a drag. We sit there watching the sky and talking until it's completely dark and a small breeze hits our bare shoulders. The balcony door is swung open and Morgan sticks his body out hastily. He lets out a sigh once his eyes fall on me.
"God Isla! I've called you over 30 times, and the place was empty, and your car was here. I called everyone and they said they haven't talked to you since you got to the gym. You scared the shit out of me." He says angrily. I get out of Leo's arm over my shoulder and get up walking towards Morgan. I wrap my arms around his shoulders and pull him into a needed hug. I feel his heart thumping in his chest causing me to feel guilty. He buries his head into the crook of my neck as he squeezes my waist close to him.
"I'm sorry. I left my phone in there and I've been here with Leo." I tell him. I feel him take in a deep breath, more of like a sniffle. I bite my lip and place my hand on his head, playing with his short hair, trying to sooth him. "I'm sorry" I repeat. He nods against my shoulder before letting go. I grab his face to see a few tears escaping.
I frown and wipe his tears with my thumb. I press my lips onto his for a quick kiss.
"You taste like cigs." He mutters. I bite my lip and scrunch my face. His eyes trail the balcony and sees the small buds that are squished in a glass plate.
"I didn't want to worry you." I tell him.
"Since when do you smoke?" He asks.
"I used to when I was younger. I quit 7 years ago, but I started up again last month." I explain.
"...Okay." He says. I scrunch my brows and look up at him.
"You're not mad?" I ask surprised. He shakes his head and places a quick kiss on my lips.
"Hey man." Morgan tells Leo. Leo looks over acting as if he wasn't listening and looking at us.
"Oh hey mate! Didn't know you came home." Leo says through a smile.
"Leo this balcony is 6 feet." Morgan says.
"Anyways let me leave you two love birds to yourselves." Leo says before getting up. He looks down at his hand before he looks back up at us, with an apologetic face.
"Actually, let me finish this last one." He says. Morgan rolls his eyes as he says, "That'll be the death of you." He goes inside leaving only Leo and I.
I laugh and lean against the wall.
"What the fuck happened in the bedroom!" Morgan's angry voice booms loudly. Leo's eyes bulge out of his head before he puts out the cig on the ash tray. He gets up quickly and scared.
"Actually I'm gonna leave now." He says before walking inside and running for the door.
"Leo!" Morgan yells, just as Leo slams the front door shut.

Hope you enjoyed this Leo and Isla chapter. It was more of a filler chapter, but it still had important info.
