Profiler, Profiled Pt. 2
21:39, 20 April 2021(Play Song)
I stay crouched along with a few cops, the detective, Hotch, and Gideon ready for Carl to confess to raping and killing those kids.
Through the small holes of the barrier separating me from Carl and Morgan. I see Morgan shuffle into the room, not taking his eyes off Carl who's putting away supplies. Morgan calls out his name causing Carl to stop what he's doing and meet him.
"You've been let go?" He asks and Morgan nods. "I told 'em it was crazy" Carl lies with a smile. "Really? Gordinski said you're the one who told them I drove Damien home." Morgan interrogates. "Was that supposed to be a secret?" Carl asks. "No. That wasn't a secret." Morgan says furrowing his eyebrows together before stepping closer to Carl. My breath hitches and I grip the handle of my gun harder.
"All these years, I kept my mouth shut. I let you go on as a hero. Carl Buford, My mentor." Morgan states with venom in his voice. "I was so afraid of you. I was afraid of the police, afraid of losing everything I was gaining. But that's how you work, isn't it." He says getting angrier.
"You make sure there's a hell lot to lose, don't you?" Morgan utters. Carl chuckles not believing a word Morgan says.
"I don't know what you think you remember." Carl insists but Morgan stops him.
"No, no, no. See, it's not what I remember that's gonna hurt you Carl. What happened to me was so long ago no ones gonna care." Morgan interrupts with tears begging to be dropped.
"Then good night Derek." Carl laughs. "You set me up!" Morgan yells. "You knew Damien wanted James to call me about what you do to him. So you killed him? You killed him because YOU knew I'd come after you...didn't you?!" Morgan proposes.
"Now your just talkin crazy." Carl says leaning on a table in-front of him. Morgan loses it and grips his head.
"God, I should've told someone about you when I was a kid! When you were 'helping' me." Derek says, his eyes glossy from him squinting them. "Well, you know what happens in cases like this? Once that dam breaks, the flood comes. After one kid steps up...they all do. You're gonna so many accusations you'll be drowning in them." Derek remarks.
"Whatever lies James told-" Carl starts but Morgan steps forward interrupting him. "They're not lies! You did the same thing to me!" Derek cry's pointing to himself. I close my eyes and roll my lips into my mouth, trying not to make a sound.
"Do you have any idea how many kids I helped get out of this neighborhood? Hm?" Carl yells lifting his arms around him questioning Morgan. "How many lives I've provided." He says angrier, slapping his own chest.
Morgan bites down on his lips, tears flowing down his face. He slowly nods his head, causing more tears to drop down his face.
"Look at you! You'd probably be dead by now if it weren't for me." Carl says proudly, as if what he did is justifiable for rape and murder.
"Yeah, well, it wasn't for free, was it?" Morgan questions already knowing the answer.
"I pulled you out of the gutter." Carl professes. Morgan's face scrunches together in pain before yelling, "I pulled myself out the gutter! All the way to the FBI! I...DID...THAT!" Morgan shouts slamming his finger into his own chest.
"You saying, I had nothing to do with making you who you are?" Carl asks surprised. "No Carl. I'm saying you have everything to do with making me who I am." Derek cry's scrunching up his nose in disgust towards Carl.
"Look, Derek...I never hurt you. You could've said no. You could've pushed me away, you...you secretly liked it." Carl says sympathizing with Morgan. At this Morgan closes his eyes and sobs. Detective Gordinski starts to make his way out of our secret spot walking towards Carl.
"You're under arrest Carl." He says motioning for the cops to cuff him. I walk out lowering my gun and putting it away seeing Carl resisting arrest.
"I saved kids. This neighborhood won't be the same without me! It's gonna be worse without the center!" Carl yells at a crying Morgan.
"Somebody will keep the center running, I will." Derek claims. I push Carl to keep walking and once the cops have him under control I run to Morgan who is standing in the middle of the room, crying. His face hiding from everyone's in shame.
I run to him and stand on the tips of my toes, flinging my arms around his neck, placing one hand behind his head, pushing it down to rest on my shoulder. He responds by hugging my lower half, pushing me closer to him so not even an inch is between us. He sobs into my shoulder as I caress the back of his head in comfort. The detective comes up to us and places a hand on Dereks shoulder as a way of saying sorry.
Morgan looks up at him and nods. I see Gideon and Hotch come back into the room looking at Morgan with pity.
Exactly what he didn't want.
I only hug him harder when I feel him struggling to catch his breath between sobs. I'm not sure how long we stood there, but all I knew is that Derek Morgan needed me for a change.
And I was gonna be there for him.

Hotch drives us quietly back to Morgan's mothers house. I look out the window of the SUV, watching the street lights pass us by. I feel Morgan grip onto my hand squeeze, nervous of seeing his mother now that she knows his secret. I draw circles on his hand trying to sooth his nerves, but it was no use once we arrived at his house. Morgan gets out of the car, staring at the house in fear. He turns around and looks back into the car.
"Can you uh..." He asks before cutting himself off. I however understood and nodded getting out of the car. I lean my head into Hotch's window and tell him to go to the hotel and that I'd see him tomorrow. Hotch only nods before giving a small wave to Morgan, driving off. I make my way to Morgan and grab his hand, dragging him to the front door of his mothers house. I knock three times and wait for the door to open. Once it does a woman with curly light brown hair flings herself on Morgan, hugging and kissing his cheeks repeatedly. I smile and back away to give them space. Once she finishes she steps away and sees my presence.
"Are you Agent Isla Del la Cruz?" She asks and I nod. Morgan's mother walks up to me and pulls me into a hug. "Thank you. Thank you for being there for my baby." She whimpers into my hair. I hug her back and reassure her.
"Happy late birthday by the way." I say once we let go of one another. She giggles and wipes her eyes. "Thank you dear, he talked about you constantly yesterday." She tells me ushering me into her home. I smile and look at an emotional Derek Morgan.
"Really?" I ask amused. "Oh yes, he said you were the strongest, most beautiful-" She starts but Morgan cuts her off.
"Okay mom, we've had a long day can we go to bed?" He asks and she nods pointing to his room. "Go ahead baby, just try not to wake up your sisters. I was finally able to put them to sleep." She tells us gripping her cardigan closer to her. We assure her and slowly walk to his room. Once he closes the door he flops onto his bed. I chuckle and sit on the corner of the it. He sighs into his pillow before flopping onto his back, placing his arms behind his head.
"I didn't know you had sisters." I tell him biting my lip. He looks at me and smiles. "Yea I have two older sisters." He tells me and I smile laughing a little bit.
"So you're the baby brother." I state leaning my chin on my knee. He laughs quietly and nods. Soon his smile drops and he just lays there thinking deeply. Suddenly he looks at me and sits up.
"Do you think they'll see me differently now?" He asks with worry in his voice. I look at him confused and ask if he means his sisters.
"Yea do you think my sisters will see me differently now that they know that I was...you know." He asks but I shake my head and sit closer to him.
"Of course not Derek." I tell him gripping onto his large hand. "They love you no matter what." I assert.
"Yea? You're right." He says looking back up towards the ceilings. I pull on his hand, forcing him to sit up. "Come on, go brush your teeth, you stink." I tell him urging for him to get up. He sighs and gets up going to his drawer flinging a pair of basketball shorts at me. I catch them and motion for him to go clean himself up. I shrug off my charcoal grey jeans and pull the shorts over my long legs. Once they reach my waist I tie the string twice and pull my t-shirt over my head. My hair flops back onto my shoulders as I realize that he never gave me a shirt to change into, so I'm left in my black silk bra. I begin to fold my clothes but stop once I feel a presence behind me.
"Hey." Morgan whispers whipping his mouth from the water he used to brush his teeth.
"Hey." I repeat walking closer to him. He takes a step back and looks away from me. I laugh at his flustered face and stop walking right in front of him.
"Morgan, me in a bra isn't something new. You've seen me in a bra before." I tell him referring to when Nathan tried to kill himself. "Come on lets go to bed, Damien's funeral is tomorrow morning." I tell him walking to his bed. He nods and takes out a few extra pillows, flopping them on the floor.
"What are you doing?" I ask and he looks down at me. "Sleeping on the floor." He points out.
"Morgan, we're not teenagers, we can sleep in the same bed together." I say patting the bed. He asks if I'm sure before climbing into bed, taking off his shirt, leaving him in only a pair of red shorts.
We lay on our backs in the quiet room, the only noises heard being the occasional car passing by and our shallow breaths.
From the corner of my eye I see his chest rise up and down quickly. Leaning the side of my face on the pillow, I look at him. His eyebrows are creased and lines are forming on his forehead. I slowly move myself on the bed closer to him, placing my hand on his bare chest. He wraps his arm around my waist causing my head to lean on him.
"I didn't want anyone to find out." He whispers under his breath. I slowly blink and roll my lips into my mouth.
"Derek, it's nothing to be embarrassed of." I tell him causing a tear to roll down his face. He hides his face from me, but I grab the side of his cheek and position him to face me. I look into his glassy eyes before saying, "I don't see you any different. You are still Derek Morgan to me." He smiles softly and kisses the top of my head.
I contemplate telling him about my own expunged records, but decide not to. Instead I focus all my attention on Morgan. I move him so he lays face down on top of me. He buries his head on my chest, crying silently. I pat the back of his head in comfort with one hand, while my other is draped over him. He squeezes my waist as he cry's throughout the night, until he finally falls asleep. I smile tiredly and kiss the top of his head before drifting off.

I awaken with a large weight on me, making it hard to breathe. I shift my legs slowly that are intertwined with Morgan's. I feel him shift on top of my and his hot breath on my chest.
"Morgan get up." I tell him with a strained voice, but he never moves. I slightly push him off of me and try to get off the bed. Once I sit up taking a deep breath, his hand grips onto my bare waist and drags me into him.
"Morgan we need to get ready." I tell him but he shakes his head with his eyes still closed. "Just a little longer...please." He pleads and I sigh and rest my head on the pillow. We lay there awake until voices are heard from outside his wooden door.
"Is that Isla?" a feminine voice asks across the door. "Yea she works with Derek." another says. "Are they dating?" the first one asks again. "I think so." she says in a not so whisper voice. "Oh my god, do you think they had sex last night?" One asks."I didn't hear anything.""Mom said she's beautiful." "I swear if she's just another one of those girls that he just sleeps with..." she says annoyed. "Now that I think about it I think I did hear some noises in there last night."
Morgan gets up and opens the door revealing only himself.
"You guys couldn't whisper to save your own lives." He says and the girls laugh. "We thought you were asleep baby bro." One states trying to peek through his large frame to see me in the room. However, Morgan moves blocking her view.
"We'll be out in a bit." He says before closing the door. I sit up and look at him with a smile.
"Your sisters are very..." I start but he finishes by saying "annoying".
"I was going to funny." I say mid laugh. "Can I take a quick shower?" I ask him and he nods pointing to the bathroom. I thank him and jump into the shower. Once I exit I dry myself off and wash my face. A knock is heard at the door, so I open it slightly.
"I got you a toothbrush." he tells me as he swings it in his hands. I smile and thank him before closing the door and brushing my teeth. Once done I exit the bathroom and walk back to Morgan's room.
"I asked my sister if you can borrow some clothes for the funeral." He tells me pointing to the bed as he fixes his tie. I murmur a thank you and walk towards the bed, clutching the only thing that separates my naked body from Morgan, my towel. I pick up the black skirt and thin black long-sleeve and make my way back to the bathroom with my go go bag.
Once putting everything on I tuck the thin shirt material into the skirt and glance at my watch before putting on some concealer over my eye bags and some mascara. I spray some perfume on and step outside, meeting with Morgan. He stands tall wearing a black button up, black dress pants, and a long black trench coat. I give him a small smile which he returns before leading me to the kitchen.
"Good morning dear, you look beautiful." Dereks mom tells me kissing my cheek. I thank her and tell her she does as well in her long sleeved black dress.
"Would you like some cake for breakfast?" She asks sitting down pushing a slice of her birthday cake. I nod and grab it from her. Morgan sits next to me and grabs a slice for himself.
Just then two young women walk in and stop at the dining table. One with straight black hair sticks her hand out and introduces herself.
"You must be Agent Del la Cruz." she says and I nod. "You can just call me Isla." The two girls nod and sit down across from us. "So you work with baby Derek here?" The other sister with curly hair asks. I laugh and nod my head as I eat a piece of cake. "Yea I'm a part of the team in Quantico, Virginia." "Do you have family that lives over there?" The sister with straight hair asks. "No I'm originally from New York. I moved there because I got the job." I explain taking a drink from Morgan's coffee mug.
"Oh you live all alone? Isn't that lonely?" His mom asks causing Derek to reprimand her. I laugh and tell him it's okay.
"Not really, I'm used to being by myself." I tell them. "No siblings?""Actually yes I have a sister named Laura. But she's not my blood relative." I tell them nervously. I bite my lip as I chew my breakfast. "So she's adopted..." Derek asks surprised. "We both are actually. Our mother, Nancy, was a foster mother but decided she wanted to adopt me. Then she just kept adopting kids after that."
"You never told me that." He states finishing his cake. "I usually don't tell people." I say shrugging. "So do you know your birth parents?" One of the siblings ask. I nod and purse my lips. When I don't answer right away Morgan stops drinking his cup of coffee and sets it down.
"You don't need to answer that, baby girl." He tells me giving a look to his sister. "I'm sorry, I over stepped." She apologizes. I rub the scar in the back of my neck and shake my head. "No it's okay. I actually do know my birth parents. I was 11 when I was taken in by my mom, so I was with my birth parents for about 7 years before I went to an orphanage for those few years." I explain taking Morgan's cup of coffee again.
"Oh wow...is it true that it's hard to get adopted when you're older?" The other sister asks. "Yeah parents usually want babies. I didn't think I was gonna get adopted....I got lucky." I say twirling my fingers on the mugs rim.
"Well you turned out amazing honey." Dereks mom tells me earning a smile. "Thank you Ms. Morgan."
"Oh no dear you call me Fran." I nod and help take the dishes away. Morgan comes from behind me and takes his coffee mug back.
"Hey I was drinking that." I tell him trying to grab it. He pulls it away and shakes his finger no.
"It was mine first princess." He tells me before chugging it all and placing it in the sink. I scowl at him and place the plates in the sink. I roll up sleeves up and start washing the dishes.
"No, no, baby girl." He says grabbing me waist. "My house let me wash them." I roll my eyes and make a compromise.
"I wash, you dry and put away." He nods and bumps his hips with mine while grabbing a towel.
I fling water in his face and continue to wash dishes and hand them to him.
"Wow after 33 years you finally wash one dish." His mother taunts. "Thank you Isla for doing the impossible." She says giggling. I laugh and look up at Morgan who's shooing his mother away.
He snaps the towel at my rear causing me to jump. I push him gently and snap his rear back.
"Aye, aye!" He yells childishly. I laugh while putting the towel down once the doorbell rings signaling the team is here to go to the funeral. Morgan goes to answer the door while his sister walks in. She leans against the couch and looks at me.
"Baby girl and princess" She mimics Derek causing me to laugh. "Yea I don't know why he calls me that." I tell her. She looks at Derek than at me. "He likes you." I shake my head softly. "No, he calls someone else we work with nicknames too. He doesn't like me." I explain. "What type of names." I think at the names he calls Garcia and smile.
"Hot stuff, sweetness." I answer causing her to make a face. "Those are general nicknames. The ones he calls you are different, trust me." She tells me before walking off. We all walk out the door and into SUV's.

We get out of the trucks and Derek grabs my hand, holding it as we walk to Damiens tombstone. Once we get there James stands over the tomb. Morgan hugs him then stands behind him. I walk up to James and hug him as well. I turn around and stand next to James, putting my hand around his shoulders. We look down at Damien Walters tombstone, the one right next to it being the boy Morgan found.
On it was newly carved "THE LOST CHILDREN. YOU ARE MISSED AND LOVED"
I feel Morgan wrap his arms around my shoulders, leaning his face next to mine looking at the graves. I sigh and rest my head on his.
